Sun Moon is a producer and seller of original alcohol connected with Kyoto, where it was created.

We are selling original alcohol coming from the place where they were created, such as the red alcohol from Kyoto called [Bakudan], or the Awamori liqueur from Okinawa called [Ucchinchu], or even the Satsuma Turmeric legend called [Yokadon].

[Bakudan] is a local s' favorite cocktail that people are drinking in the downtown in Kyoto since over 50 years. The Awamori liqueur from Okinawa called [Ucchinchu] is a Ryukyu local specialty. To make it properly blend, it is made with wild turmeric from Okinawa manufacturers and with unrefined brown sugar. The Satsuma Turmeric Legend called [Yokadon] is a Shochu liqueur, good for your health. It is produced by making the turmeric blend using the Satsuma original Shochu. Please try the original and peculiar alcohol from Sun Moon.

    [Bakudan] is a cocktail that is drunk since a long time in the downtown in Kyoto. With its red color, and when diluted with soda, the [Bakudan] taste will be sweet and sour just as a grape juice.   • [Ucchinchu] the Awamori liqueur from Okinawa

    The Awamori Ryukyu liqueur is made by the well-established shop called [Mizuho Sake Brewing Company]. To produce this alcohol wild turmeric from Okinawa’s producers are used and blended. Since a long time in Okinawa, the percentage of turmeric herbal tea diluted in the Awamori depends on everyone’s preferences. Okinawan people’s wisdom is reappearing. Please enjoy Awamori either on the rocks, diluted with water or soda to experience the refreshing aroma of the wild turmeric and the deep flavor of this alcohol.

  • [Yokadon] the Satsuma Turmeric legend

    To produce the [Satsuma Godai] alcohol brand and the [Yokadon], the same original method of production is used: the shochu is distilled from barley. This is the method of the Yamamoto Sake Brewing company situated in Satsuma in Kagoshima. The procedure to distill Shochu from barley is abundantly used making the [Yokadon] easy to drink and its aroma nice and refreshing. Not only will you feel the fragrant aroma of barley and its sweetness, but the turmeric, good for health, will also create a faint bitter taste making you become a [Yokadon] lover from the first cup.

Management Philosophy

Sun Moon is aiming at making you spend an agreeable and healthy time with its alcohol by creating and selling enjoyable local original alcohol products.

[Bakudan] is a cocktail that is drunk since a long time in the downtown in Kyoto.
With its red color, and when diluted with soda, the [Bakudan] taste will be sweet and sour just as a grape juice. The bubbliness of our product will also spread in your mouth. Thus, our product is perfect to go with Teppanyaki, and other local dishes.

I started this business 24 years ago when I was in university. While I was expanding the operations from developing the promotion production, I fostered my business and created a company called Try Out, Co.. This was my dream for many years, until the end of 2008 when I finally realized it by launching our company’s brand item called [Bakudan].
[Bakudan] is one of the few locals’ favorite cocktail in the downtown in Kyoto, and we were drinking it often in our early life.

I developed this product beacuse I want more people to have a try for this alcohol.
Thanks to this, you can now enjoy our products in various places such as in Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe’s bars, or you can find them in shops, in pubs all over Japan, or even in Tokyo and Nagoya’s specific shops.
I have memories with our company’s cocktail brand [Bakudan], that I created in association with my current and former colleagues. I want people born in Kyoto and people from the same years to enjoy drinking our alcohol while remembering the days when I talked about my dream with my friends.
